In communities and schoolyards across Latin America, you’ll find adults and kids playing these two games:

Soccer

Almost every Latin American kid has soccer fever—the sport is played in school yards and fields all over the region. National soccer teams from Latin America have even won the World Cup in the past. Brazil has won five World Cups, more than any other team in the world.

Volley

Volleyball, often referred to as just volley, is one of the most popular games in the mountains of Ecuador. It’s quite different from the volleyball you know. Volley is played with only three players per side on a smaller court with a much higher net. The ball is bigger and weighs more, kind of like a soccer ball. Players don’t spike or block the ball and a certain amount of lifting is allowed.
