Hola! My name is Anka and this is my friend Naira. Welcome to our home, Latin America.
When you imagine Latin American food, you probably think about spicy fajitas or nachos. The food we actually eat is very different.
Latin American people do eat the tortillas you might have tried at home, but they’re made with corn instead of flour. Maís (pronounce my-ees) is the Spanish word for corn, and it’s an important food all over Latin America, whether it’s pounded into a tortilla or cooked in a tangy soup.
Make a Hot Bowl of Locro (pronounced low-crow)
We eat a lot of soup in Ecuador, especially at lunch, the biggest meal of the day. With the help of an adult, try making this traditional potato soup at home.
