A new school brings hope to Gansu Province.
As a little girl, Ma Xiaohong dreamed of going to school, but education always remained out of reach. Although there are schools where Ma Xiaohong lives in China’s rural Gansu Province, they are too dilapidated and dangerous for learning to take place. The closest school she could attend was miles away in a neighboring village, a dangerous trip that would take hours for Ma Xiaohong to walk every day.
Her life changed the day the village elder shared the news that children like you were working together to build a school in the community. Now 13, Ma Xiaohong is a fourth grade student at beautiful Sheke Primary School. Ma Xiaohong says that when she grows up she wants to do for the world the good that has been done for her.
