What is RSS?

RSS (really simple syndication) is a web feed technology used to both publish and deliver frequently updated content from the Internet such as blog entries, news stories, and similar time-sensitive text.

In order to browse or subscribe to web feeds, a user must employ an RSS feed reading application. Once installation is completed, the user can bookmark an RSS feed they are interested in receiving and the application will initiate the subscription process. From then on out the feed reader will automatically check your list of bookmarked RSS feeds for new content updates. Typically, this content is sent directly to a users’ email in-box. Online feed reading services are another option that delivers timely information straight to a user’s individual web page.

RSS technology is beneficial to users on both ends as it is a completely streamlined method of publishing and receiving time-sensitive content in an efficient way. Feed readers enable a user to aggregate a diverse collection of information, place it all in one area, and review in a short amount of time.
